Edition 5
FIFTH Edition!
Aaron Starkey Music Newsletter
FRIENDS!
This is the FIFTH Aaron Starkey Music Newsletter!
It's also the 22nd day of April and I feel like Matthew McConaughey, in the movie Interstellar, when he is watching the video after he returns from the planet with heavy gravity. At least when I read the nytimes.
What a world!
if you're getting this for the first time..well, sorry you missed the first four...! (let me know if you don't want 'em in your inbox!)
SO...WHAT IS AARON doing? HOW is Aaron doing?
First off, a huge thanks to everyone that came to the Jason Molina musicares evening...we sold it out and we raised $7613 dollars (doors + raffle) for MusiCares!
as they say, I couldn't have done it without you. but srsly, so many of you came and made it the memorable night that it was, and for that I am deeply grateful.
On the music front...and thankfully, things have slowed down for a bit...life stuff ya know? and now, i'm going to get busy again for a hot minute!!
Anyways...enough of my ramblings... SO, what's coming up this month?
A band that I am lucky enough to "play guitar" in (that always sounds weird...like isn't it more than "playing"?) Graveyard of the Pacific is doing a mini PWN "tour" hitting Seattle, Portland and Olympia and we're opening up for Junita & Juan.
Who are they? Well, it's an astounding duo consisting of Kid Congo Powers and Alice Bag. Seriously. Historic. No bulltshit.
April 22nd - The Clock Out (SEA) with Junita & Juan - Graveyard of the Pacific
April 23rd - Polaris Hall (PDX) with Junita & Juan - Graveyard of the Pacific
April 24th - Capitol Theater (OLY) with Junita & Juan - Graveyard of the Pacific
And then, Long Dark Moon will be starting off hot band summer with a show at the Sunset on May 2nd with Betsy Olson Band and the Tony Fulgham (band)...literally everyone will know everyone else at this show and it will be fun with lots of awkward hugs. I'll hug you maybe, if you come. ok, i probably won't hug you. more likely i'll just look a little awkward.
YEAH..BUT...do get your ticket in advance damnit: https://dice.fm/event/eolr92-tony-fulgham-long-dark-moon-betsy-olson-band-a-sunset-25th-anniversary-show-2nd-may-the-sunset-tavern-seattle-tickets
And then, Long Dark Moon enters the studio to complete the final tracking on our second album with Ryan Leyva (aka Johnny Nails) at the helm (why do we say helm? it's not a boat!)
Ok, thanks for playing along and I hope this wasn't too annoying!!
If you've read this far...I invite you to write me a question and I'll try and answer it in my next email! I like questions!
